Sañjaya emphasizes sober realism and truth in counsel: victory is not achieved by reckless force alone. As long as the principal protectors and leaders (the Pāṇḍu sons) remain alive, their army retains an unconquerable resilience, implying that strategy must address causes and leadership, not merely brute assault.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, assessing the battlefield situation in Droṇa Parva. He warns that the Kaurava side cannot simply overwhelm the Pandavas by a sudden, forceful push; the continued survival of the Pāṇḍavas makes their host extremely difficult to defeat.
