अध्याय १५९ — रात्रौ श्रमविरामः
Night Exhaustion and Brief Pause in Battle
शक्त्या चैन विनिर्भिवद्य पुनर्विव्याध सप्तभि: । ततस्तु सात्यकेरर्थे भीमसेनो नवं दृढम्
śaktyā cainaṃ vinirbhidya punar vivyādha saptabhiḥ | tatas tu sātyaker arthe bhīmaseno navaṃ dṛḍham ||
Sanjaya dit : L’ayant percé d’une lance, il le frappa de nouveau de sept traits. Alors, pour Sātyaki, Bhīmasena prit fermement une résolution nouvelle : son dessein se durcit en une action décisive au cœur de la mêlée.
संजय उवाच
In the midst of violence, the verse highlights steadfast resolve and loyalty to comrades: Bhīma’s firmness arises specifically “for Sātyaki’s sake,” reflecting the kṣatriya ethic of protecting allies and responding decisively when a companion is endangered.
A warrior is first transfixed with a spear and then wounded again with seven arrows. Seeing the danger and the situation involving Sātyaki, Bhīmasena becomes firmly resolved—preparing to act forcefully on Sātyaki’s behalf.
