चक्षुर्मनो भ्यां संतोष्या विप्रा: पूज्याश्न॒ शक्तित: । नचैषां विप्रियं कार्य ते हि वल्लेशिखोपमा:,“विनयपूर्ण दृष्टि और श्रद्धायुत्ह हृदयसे ब्राह्मणोंको संतुष्ट रखना, यथाशक्ति उनका आदर-सत्कार करते रहना। कभी उनका अप्रिय न करना; क्योंकि वे अग्निकी ज्वालाके समान तेजस्वी होते हैं!

Transliteration

cakṣurmanobhyāṁ santoṣyā viprāḥ pūjyāś ca yathāśakti | na caiṣāṁ vipriyaṁ kāryaṁ te hi vahnēḥ śikhopamāḥ ||

Translation

Sañjaya dit : «Avec des yeux pleins de révérence et un esprit de foi, tiens les brāhmaṇas dans le contentement et honore-les selon tes moyens. Ne fais rien qui leur déplaise, car ils sont rayonnants et redoutables, tels les flammes du feu.»
