Droṇa Encircled at Night: Coalition Advance and Battlefield Omens (द्रोणपर्यावरणं रात्रियुद्धवर्णनम्)
द्रौपदी च सुभद्रा च पश्यन्त्यौ सह बन्धुभि: | “आज अवश्य ही माता कुन्ती किसी दुःखद अपशकुनकी चर्चा करती होंगी। बन्धुओंसहित द्रौपदी और सुभद्रा भी कोई असगुन देख रही होंगी ।। २३ डक स भीम त्वरया युक्तो याहि यत्र धनंजय:,“अतः भीम! तुम तुरंत ही जहाँ अर्जुन हैं, वहाँ जाओ। आज अर्जुनको देखनेके लिये मेरी सारी दिशाएँ मोहाच्छन्न-सी हो रही हैं। सात्यकिको न देख पानेके कारण भी मेरे लिये सारी दिशाओंमें अँधेरा छा गया है”

Sañjaya dit : «Draupadī et Subhadrā aussi, avec leurs proches, observent, percevant des signes de mauvais augure et des inquiétudes annonciatrices de souffrance. Dans l’atmosphère morale de la guerre, les femmes de la maison des Kuru pressentent la calamité imminente ; leur appréhension reflète le prix humain d’un conflit mû par l’adharma.»
