Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the dharmic frame of epic warfare: warriors and allied hosts act according to their pledged duties and loyalties, showing how collective obligation and alliance can drive conflict to a vast and costly scale.

Sañjaya reports that a fierce engagement breaks out: Bhagadatta fights against the combined forces of the Pāñcālas, the Pāṇḍavas, and the Kekayas, all standing with weapons raised and ready.
