Chapter 89: Bhīma dispatched to protect Ghaṭotkaca amid escalating engagements
अर्जुनो5थ सुभशर्मादीन् राज्ञस्तान् सपदानुगान् | विजित्य पृतनामध्ये ययौ स्वशिबिरं प्रति
arjuno 'tha subhaśarmādīn rājñas tān sapadānugān | vijitya pṛtanāmadhye yayau svaśibiraṃ prati ||
Sañjaya dit : Alors Arjuna, ayant vaincu sur le champ de bataille ces rois, à commencer par Subhaśarman, avec leurs suivants, quitta le cœur de la mêlée et reprit le chemin de son propre camp.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in practice: a warrior must decisively overcome hostile opponents, yet remain disciplined and purposeful—returning to his own camp after achieving the immediate objective rather than fighting aimlessly.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna defeats a group of kings led by Subhaśarman along with their followers in the midst of the battle formation, and then proceeds back toward his own camp.
