अध्याय ८० — मध्यंदिन-रणवृत्तान्तः

प्रविष्टो धार्तराष्ट्राणामेतद् बलमहार्णवम् | तब विशोकने हाथ जोड़कर धूृष्टद्युम्नसे कहा--'प्रभो! पराक्रमी और बलवान् पाण्डुनन्दन मुझे यहीं खड़ा करके कौरवोंके इस सैन्यसागरमें घुस गये हैं ।। मामुक््त्वा पुरुषव्याप्र: प्रीतियुक्तमिदं वच:,“जाते समय पुरुषसिंह भीमसेनने मुझसे प्रेमपूर्वक यह बात कही कि सूत! तुम दो घड़ीतक इन घोड़ोंको रोककर यहीं मेरी प्रतीक्षा करो। जबतक कि ये जो लोग मेरा वध करनेके लिये उद्यत हैं, इन्हें अभी मार न डालूँ
sañjaya uvāca |
praviṣṭo dhārtarāṣṭrāṇām etad balamahārṇavam |
mām uktvā puruṣavyāghraḥ prītiyuktam idaṃ vacaḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : « Après s’être enfoncé dans cette immense armée des Dhārtarāṣṭra (les Kaurava), vaste comme un océan, Bhīma — tigre parmi les hommes — me laissa en arrière et me dit avec affection : “Cocher, retiens ici ces chevaux et attends-moi deux muhūrta, jusqu’à ce que j’aie abattu ceux qui, à présent, brûlent de me tuer.” »
