तस्मिन्नाकुलसंग्रामे वर्तमाने महाभये । अभवत् तुमुल: शब्द: संस्पृशन् गगनं महत्,उस अत्यन्त भयानक घमासान युद्धमें बड़ा भयंकर कोलाहल होने लगा, जिससे अनन्त आकाश गूँज उठा
tasminn ākula-saṅgrāme vartamāne mahābhaye | abhavat tumulaḥ śabdaḥ saṁspṛśan gaganaṁ mahat ||
Sañjaya dit : Tandis que cette bataille confuse et chaotique faisait rage au cœur d’une grande terreur, un vacarme assourdissant s’éleva, si immense qu’il semblait frapper et emplir le vaste ciel. Le vers souligne l’atmosphère morale de la guerre : lorsque le dharma est disputé sur le champ de bataille, le tumulte extérieur reflète le bouleversement intérieur—peur, frénésie et effondrement de l’ordre humain ordinaire.
संजय उवाच
The verse conveys that war generates not only physical destruction but also an atmosphere of moral and psychological turmoil. The overwhelming noise symbolizes the disorientation and fear that arise when human beings enter a state where ordinary restraints and clarity are shaken.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the battle has become intensely chaotic and terrifying, and that a tremendous roar has arisen—so great it seems to reverberate through the entire sky.
