भीष्मस्य भीमसेन-निरोधः

स्थिताश्च सर्वे त्वयि भूतसंघा: कृत्वा55श्रयं त्वां वरदं सुबाहो । अनादिमध्यान्तमपारयोगं लोकस्य सेतु प्रवदन्ति विप्रा:,सुबाहो! आप वरदायक प्रभुका ही आश्रय लेकर समस्त प्राणिसमुदाय आपमें ही स्थित हैं। ब्राह्गणलोग आपको आदि, मध्य और अन्तसे रहित, किसी सीमाके सम्बन्धसे शून्य (असीम) तथा लोकमर्यादाकी रक्षाके लिये सेतुस्वरूप बताते हैं
sthitāś ca sarve tvayi bhūtasaṅghāḥ kṛtvā śrayaṃ tvāṃ varadaṃ subāho | anādimadhyāntam apārayogaṃ lokasya setuṃ pravadanti viprāḥ ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Ô toi aux bras puissants ! Toutes les multitudes d’êtres demeurent en toi seul, ayant pris refuge en toi, dispensateur de dons. Les sages te déclarent sans commencement, sans milieu ni fin ; au-delà de toute mesure qui limite ; et “pont” (setu) qui maintient l’ordre moral du monde.»
