भीष्मपर्व — अध्याय ६२: वासुदेवमहात्म्यप्रशंसा (देव–ब्रह्मसंवादः)
द्रोणे चास्त्रविदां श्रेष्ठे सपुत्रे ससुहृज्जने । कृपे चैव महेष्वासे द्रवते यद् वरूथिनी,“पितामह भरतनन्दन! मैं आपसे जो कुछ कहता हूँ, उसे सुनिये। कुरुनन्दन! आपके, अस्त्रवेत्ताओंमें श्रेष्ठ द्रोणाचार्यके और महाधनुर्धर कृपाचार्यके पुत्रों और सुहृदोंसहित जीते- जी जो मेरी सेना भाग रही है, इसे मैं आपलोगोंके योग्य नहीं मानता हूँ
droṇe cāstravidāṃ śreṣṭhe saputre sasuhṛjjane | kṛpe caiva maheṣvāse dravate yad varūthinī ||
Sañjaya dit : «Quand on voit le dispositif de bataille se rompre et fuir, alors même que Droṇa —le premier des maîtres d’armes— se tient là avec son fils et ses proches, et que Kṛpa, le grand archer, est présent, une telle déroute de l’armée est indigne de toi.»
