Daiva–Puruṣakāra Discourse and the Elephant-Corps Engagement (भीमगजानीक-सम्भ्रान्ति)
धृष्टय्युम्नस्तु तं दृष्टवा कलिज्ञैः समभिद्रुतम् । भीमसेनममेयात्मा त्राणायाजौ समभ्ययात्
dhṛṣṭadyumnas tu taṃ dṛṣṭvā kaliṅgaiḥ samabhidrutam | bhīmasenam ameyātmā trāṇāyājau samabhyayāt ||
Sañjaya dit : Voyant Bhīmasena violemment assailli par les guerriers de Kaliṅga, Dhṛṣṭadyumna—à l’âme incommensurable—s’avança sur le champ de bataille pour le protéger. La scène met en lumière l’éthique du kṣatriya : demeurer aux côtés de l’allié dans l’épreuve, où le courage n’est pas seulement prouesse solitaire, mais garde opportune du compagnon menacé.
