Daiva–Puruṣakāra Discourse and the Elephant-Corps Engagement (भीमगजानीक-सम्भ्रान्ति)

भ्रान्तमाविद्धमुद्भ्रान्तमाप्लुतं प्रसृतं प्लुतम्‌ । सम्पातं समुदीर्ण च दर्शयामास पाण्डव:

bhrāntam āviddham udbhrāntam āplutaṃ prasṛtaṃ plutam | sampātaṃ samudīrṇaṃ ca darśayāmāsa pāṇḍavaḥ ||

Sañjaya dit : Alors le Pāṇḍava (Bhīmasena) déploya maintes manœuvres d’épée—feintes tournoyantes, brandissements rapides, volte-face soudaines, bonds, avances étirées, élans sautés, piqués plongeants et poussées impétueuses—tout en se mouvant selon diverses lignes sur le champ de bataille. Le vers met en lumière une maîtrise martiale disciplinée, vouée au devoir sombre de la guerre : la prouesse n’y est pas montrée par vanité, mais comme part du rôle de chacun dans un conflit tenu pour juste.
