Bhīṣma–Dhanaṃjaya Duel and the Opening Clash

अन्योन्यं प्रत्यभाषन्त तयोर्दृष्टवा पराक्रमम् । न शक््योौ युधि संरब्धौ जेतुमेती कथठ्चन
Transliteration
anyonyam pratyabhāṣanta tayor dṛṣṭvā parākramam | na śakyo yudhi saṃrabdhau jetum etī kathañcana ||
Translation
Sañjaya dit : Voyant la prouesse de ces deux-là, ils se dirent l’un à l’autre : «Quand tous deux sont pleinement soulevés dans la bataille, nul ne peut les vaincre». Cette remarque souligne la gravité morale de la guerre : la puissance héroïque, attisée par la colère et le devoir, devient une force qui échappe aux freins ordinaires et rend la victoire incertaine.
