धनुश्विच्छेद भल्लेन पुनरेव पितुस्तव । महाराज! उन्होंने श्वेतपर बहुत-से बाणोंकी वर्षा की, परंतु रथियोंमें श्रेष्ठ श्वेतने रणक्षेत्रमें उन सब सायकोंका निवारण करके पुनः: एक भल्लके द्वारा आपके पिता भीष्मका धनुष काट दिया
sañjaya uvāca | dhanuś ciccheda bhallena punar eva pituḥ tava | mahārāja, tair bahubhiḥ śarair vṛṣṭir iva śvetapar varṣitā | tu rathināṃ śreṣṭhaḥ śvetaḥ raṇakṣetre tān sarvān sāyakān nivārya punaḥ bhallena tava pituḥ bhīṣmasya dhanuś ciccheda |
Sañjaya dit : Ô roi, d’une flèche bhalla acérée, il trancha de nouveau l’arc de ton père. Une multitude de flèches s’abattit sur Śveta, mais Śveta—le premier des guerriers de char—para chaque trait sur le champ de bataille et, rendant coup pour coup avec sang-froid, sectionna encore une fois l’arc de Bhīṣma.
