इति श्रीमहाभारते भीष्मपर्वणि श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतापर्वणि श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतासूपनिषत्सु ब्रह्मविद्यायां योगशास्त्रे श्रीकृष्णार्जुनसंवादे भक्तियोगो नाम द्वादशो5ध्याय: ।। १२ ॥। भीष्मपर्वणि तु षट्त्रिंशो5ध्याय:
iti śrīmahābhārate bhīṣmaparvaṇi śrīmadbhagavadgītāparvaṇi śrīmadbhagavadgītāsūpaniṣatsu brahmavidyāyāṃ yogaśāstre śrīkṛṣṇārjunasaṃvāde bhaktiyogo nāma dvādaśo 'dhyāyaḥ || 12 || bhīṣmaparvaṇi tu ṣaṭtriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ |
Ainsi, au sein du Mahābhārata—dans le Bhīṣma Parvan, dans la section dite Bhagavad Gītā—s’achève l’enseignement de type upaniṣadique sur la connaissance de Brahman et la discipline du Yoga, présenté comme le dialogue entre Śrī Kṛṣṇa et Arjuna : le douzième chapitre, nommé « Bhakti Yoga », le Yoga de la Dévotion. Dans le Bhīṣma Parvan, cela correspond au trente-sixième chapitre.
