ववुर्बहुविधाश्वैव दिक्षु सर्वासु मारुता: । दृश्यमानेषु रक्ष:सु भूतेषु च नदत्सु च,सम्पूर्ण दिशाओंमें अनेक प्रकारकी वायु प्रवाहित हो रही थी। सब ओर राक्षस और भूतगण गरजते दिखायी देते थे
vavur bahuvidhāś caiva dikṣu sarvāsu mārutāḥ | dṛśyamāneṣu rakṣaḥsu bhūteṣu ca nadatṣu ca ||
Sañjaya dit : «Des vents de toutes sortes se mirent à souffler en chaque direction. De toutes parts, on voyait des rākṣasas et d’autres esprits, rugissant à pleine voix — des présages qui assombrissaient le champ et annonçaient la tourmente redoutable et injuste entourant le carnage à venir.»
