ऋते महेन्द्रतनयाच्छवेताश्वात्‌ कृष्णसारथे: । कृष्णसारथि

Transliteration

ṛte mahendratanayāc chvetāśvāt kṛṣṇasārathēḥ |

Translation

Sañjaya dit : Hormis Arjuna—fils d’Indra, sur son char aux chevaux blancs, avec Kṛṣṇa pour cocher—nul autre Pāṇḍava, fût-il un grand guerrier de char, ne put rassembler le courage de vaincre ce héros très puissant de la lignée de Bharata, ni même d’oser se tenir devant lui. Le vers souligne que, sous la pression morale de la guerre, la vraie capacité se mesure non seulement aux armes, mais à la constance du cœur et au soutien d’un conseil juste.
