रथाग्न्यगारशक्षापार्चिरसिशक्तिगदेन्धन: । शरसंघमहाज्वाल: क्षत्रियान् समरेडदहत्
sañjaya uvāca |
rathāgnyagāraśaṣkāpārcirasiśaktigadendhanaḥ |
śarasaṅghamahājvālaḥ kṣatriyān samare ’dahat ||
Sañjaya dit : Dans cette bataille, c’était comme si un feu ardent consumait les kṣatriya. Les chars semblaient des salles de feu ; les arcs, des langues de flamme ; épées, lances et massues faisaient office de combustible ; et la masse des flèches s’élevait comme le grand brasier lui-même — image de la guerre dévorante, où la prouesse martiale devient une conflagration destructrice qui éprouve jusqu’aux limites le kṣatriya-dharma.
