भीष्मस्य शरशय्या-प्राप्तिः
Bhīṣma’s Fall to the Arrow-Bed
स्कन्दशक््त्या यथा क्रौज्च: पुरा नृपतिसत्तम । नृपश्रेष्ठ छातीमें लगे हुए उस बाणसे प्रतापी भीमसेन वैसे ही सुशोभित हुए, जैसे पूर्वकालमें कार्तिकेयकी शक्तिसे आविद्ध होनेपर क्रौंच पर्वतकी शोभा हुई थी
sañjaya uvāca | skandaśaktyā yathā krauñcaḥ purā nṛpatisattama |
Sañjaya dit : Ô meilleur des rois, Bhimasena, bien que frappé à la poitrine par cette flèche, n’en paraissait que plus resplendissant—comme jadis le mont Krauncha brilla lorsqu’il fut percé par la lance śakti de Skanda (Kārtikeya). Cette comparaison exalte la constance du guerrier : même blessé, il n’abandonne pas son devoir au combat, mais porte le coup avec une résolution inébranlable.
