अश्वमेधावसानम् — Dakṣiṇā-vibhāga and Avabhṛtha
Completion of the Aśvamedha
तस्याधर्मप्रवृत्तस्य हिंसकस्य दुरात्मन: । दानेन कीर्तिर्भवति न प्रेत्येह च दुर्मतेः,अधर्ममें प्रवृत्त हुए दुर्बद्धि दुरात्मा हिंसक मनुष्य जो दान देते हैं, उससे इहलोक या परलोकमें उनकी कीर्ति नहीं होती
tasyādharmapravṛttasya hiṃsakasya durātmanaḥ | dānena kīrtir bhavati na pretyeha ca durmateḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Pour l’homme qui s’est tourné vers l’adharma — violent, au cœur mauvais et à l’intelligence dévoyée — la charité ne fait naître aucune renommée véritable, ni en ce monde ni après la mort. Les dons ne sauraient purifier une vie enracinée dans le tort et l’adharma.
