धूतपापो जितस्वर्गों मुमुदे भ्रातृभि: सह । इस प्रकार पृथ्वीके मूल्यके रूपमें वह सुवर्ण देकर राजा युधिष्ठिर अपने भाइयोंसहित बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। उनके सारे पाप धुल गये और उन्होंने स्वर्गपर अधिकार प्राप्त कर लिया
dhūtapāpo jitasvargo mumude bhrātṛbhiḥ saha |
Vaiśaṃpāyana dit : Ses péchés lavés et le droit au ciel assuré, le roi Yudhiṣṭhira se réjouit avec ses frères. En donnant cet or comme prix de la terre, il éprouva une profonde satisfaction.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Righteous generosity (dāna) performed in alignment with dharma is portrayed as purifying (removing pāpa) and as producing spiritual merit that leads to higher states such as svarga.
After giving gold as the symbolic ‘price of the earth,’ Yudhiṣṭhira is described as rejoicing with his brothers; the text frames this act as cleansing his sins and securing heavenly attainment.
