राजपूजाविधानम् / Royal Reception Protocols during Āśvamedha Preparations

न तत्र कृपण: वक्षिन्न दरिद्रो बभूव ह । क्षुधितो दुःखितो वापि प्राकृतो वापि मानव:

na tatra kṛpaṇaḥ kaścid daridro babhūva ha | kṣudhito duḥkhito vāpi prākṛto vāpi mānavaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana dit : Dans cette assemblée sacrificielle, nul ne demeura misérable ni pauvre. Aucun homme—qu’il fût affamé, accablé de chagrin, ou même de la condition la plus ordinaire et la plus basse—ne fut laissé dans le besoin. Ainsi le rite devient un tableau éthique du devoir royal : la prospérité est faite pour se répandre au-dehors, afin que souffrance et privation soient ôtées de tous ceux qui entrent dans la sphère de l’acte dharmique du roi.
