Ulūpī’s Disclosure and the Saṃjīvana-Maṇi: Arjuna’s Restoration (उलूपी-प्रकटनं संजीवनमणि-स्थापनं च)
कर्मणा तेन पापेन पतेथा निरये ध्रुवम् । “उसकी शान्ति किये बिना ही यदि आप प्राणोंका परित्याग करते तो उस पापकर्मके प्रभावसे निश्चय ही नरकमें पड़ते
karmaṇā tena pāpena pateṭhā niraye dhruvam |
Arjuna dit : «À cause de cette faute, tu serais tombé à coup sûr en enfer. Si tu avais quitté la vie sans d’abord rétablir la paix et réparer le tort, la conséquence morale de cet acte t’aurait entraîné vers un sort effroyable.»
अर्जुन उवाच
Moral responsibility cannot be escaped by death or withdrawal; a wrongful act bears karmic consequence, and one should seek reconciliation/rectification (śānti) rather than leaving the wrong unresolved.
Arjuna warns the addressed person that if they had given up their life without first pacifying and correcting the situation, the sin of that deed would have led them inevitably to niraya (a hellish state).
