Ulūpī’s Disclosure and the Saṃjīvana-Maṇi: Arjuna’s Restoration (उलूपी-प्रकटनं संजीवनमणि-स्थापनं च)
तस्य शान्तिमकृत्वा त्वं त्यजेथा यदि जीवितम्
tasya śāntim akṛtvā tvaṁ tyajethā yadi jīvitam
Arjuna dit : «Si, sans d’abord lui apporter paix et réconciliation, tu venais à renoncer à la vie, ce serait une faute grave contre le dharma ; on ne doit pas quitter ce monde en laissant le trouble d’autrui sans apaisement.»
अर्जुन उवाच
One should not choose self-abandonment or withdrawal while neglecting the duty to restore peace; dharma prioritizes resolving conflict and calming the afflicted before taking drastic personal steps.
Arjuna addresses someone directly, warning that giving up life without first securing that person’s peace (śānti) would be improper; the line functions as an ethical admonition within the Ashvamedha-related events.
