Ulūpī–Citravāhinī Saṃvāda: Dhanaṃjaya-patana and Prāya-threat

सम्प्रीयमाण: पार्थानामृषभ: पुत्रविक्रमात्‌ । नात्यर्थ पीडयामास पुत्र वज्रधरात्मज:

samprīyamāṇaḥ pārthānām ṛṣabhaḥ putravikramāt | nātyarthaṃ pīḍayāmāsa putraṃ vajradharātmajaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana dit : Arjuna, taureau parmi les Pārtha et fils du porteur de la foudre (Indra), se réjouissait grandement de la vaillance de son fils ; aussi ne le pressa-t-il ni ne le châtia-t-il outre mesure. Le passage met en lumière la retenue disciplinée d’un père : l’approbation du courage, tempérée par une correction mesurée plutôt que par la dureté.
