वज्रदत्तेन सह अर्जुनयुद्धम्

स तैर्विद्धो महानागो विस्रवन् रुधिरं वभौ । गैरिकाक्तमिवाम्भोडडद्रिरबहुप्रस्रवणं तदा
sa tair viddho mahānāgo visravan rudhiraṃ vabhau | gairikāktaṃ ivāmbhoda-drir bahu-prasravaṇaṃ tadā ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Percé par ces flèches, le puissant éléphant se mit à répandre des flots de sang. En cet instant, il semblait une montagne porteuse de pluie, striée d’ocre rouge, d’où jaillissent de multiples sources—image qui avive la pitié devant la violence et le prix âpre de l’acte guerrier.
