Marutta Seeks a Priest: Bṛhaspati’s Refusal and Nārada’s Guidance to Saṃvarta
Chapter 6
Marutta uvāca—saṃjīvito ’haṃ bhavatā vākyenānena Nārada | paśyeyaṃ kva nu Saṃvarta śaṃsa me vadatāṃ vara ||
The verse highlights the ethical posture of a seeker: gratitude for wise counsel, humility in approaching a spiritual authority, and concern for proper conduct so that guidance is not lost through arrogance or impropriety.
King Marutta, encouraged by Nārada’s words, urgently asks where he can meet the sage Saṃvarta and how he should approach him so that Saṃvarta will not reject his request.
