यस्मिंस्ते कुण्डले बद्धे तदा द्विजवरेण वै । उस समय उनकी दृष्टि बेलोंपर ही लगी हुई थी (वे कहाँ गिरते हैं
yasmiṁs te kuṇḍale baddhe tadā dvijavareṇa vai |
Vaiśaṃpāyana dit : «En ce temps-là, le brahmane d’excellente stature avait attaché ces deux boucles d’oreilles à une peau de daim. Son regard ne se portait que sur les lianes ; il ne faisait pas attention à l’endroit où tombaient celles qu’il coupait. Ainsi, presque toutes les lianes qu’il trancha tombèrent sur cette même peau à laquelle les deux boucles avaient été liées.»
