Kṛṣṇa’s Departure, Auspicious Omens, and the Opening of the Uttaṅka Dialogue
rocate me mahābāho gamanaṁ tava keśava | mātulaś cira-dṛṣṭo me tvayā devī ca devakī ||
Yudhiṣṭhira dit : «Ô Keśava aux bras puissants, ton départ me paraît juste. Car depuis longtemps tu n’as pas vu mon oncle maternel, ni la déesse Devakī.»
Even amid royal and political responsibilities, dharma includes honoring family bonds and attending to elders and parents; Yudhiṣṭhira ethically approves Kṛṣṇa’s departure because it serves filial and familial duty.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Kṛṣṇa (Keśava) and expresses consent and approval for Kṛṣṇa to depart, reasoning that Kṛṣṇa has not seen Devakī and Yudhiṣṭhira’s maternal uncle for a long time.
