Marutta’s Sacrifice: Indra’s Threat, Saṃvarta’s Mantric Restraint, and Divine Reconciliation (अध्याय १०)

Ritual authority and legitimacy should be grounded in proper ordinance (vidhāna) and transparent distribution of sacrificial shares (bhāga). Divine approval is not merely claimed; it is to be made evident through correct action that the community can witness.
The sage Saṃvarta addresses Indra, urging him—if he is indeed pleased—to personally guide the sacrificial procedure and to assign the offerings due to each deity, so that everyone present can clearly perceive Indra’s favor toward the rite.
