Circle-of-Kings Analysis and the Six Policies
यन्मात्सर्यमयं भीम: करोति भृशदुःखित: । न तन्मनसि कर्तव्यमिति वाच्य: स पार्थिव:
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
yan mātsaryamayaṃ bhīmaḥ karoti bhṛśaduḥkhitaḥ |
na tan manasi kartavyam iti vācyaḥ sa pārthivaḥ |
Vaiśampāyana dit : «Quelle que soit la jalousie que Bhīma, accablé d’une douleur profonde, puisse laisser paraître, que le roi ne la prenne pas à cœur. Voilà ce qu’il faut lui dire.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Grief can provoke jealousy and harsh reactions, but one should not internalize or endorse such mātsarya; wise counsel restrains the mind and redirects emotion toward dharmic composure.
Vaiśampāyana reports a message meant for a king: Bhīma, suffering intensely, may show jealousy, yet the king should be advised not to take that sentiment to heart or let it shape his inner resolve.
