The verse underscores disciplined practice and the supportive role of attentive service: skill and austerity are sustained when one performs one’s duty steadily, and when family members contribute responsibly to a shared way of life.
Jamadagni repeatedly shoots arrows, enjoying the sound of the bowstring and the arrows’ flight; Renuka repeatedly retrieves and returns the arrows from a distance, enabling his continued practice.
