अमांसाशी सदा च स्यातू् पवित्र च सदा पठेत् । ऋतवादी सदा च स्यान्नियतश्न सदा भवेत्
bhīṣma uvāca | amāṃsāśī sadā ca syāt pavitraṃ ca sadā paṭhet | ṛtavādī sadā ca syān niyataśnaḥ sadā bhavet ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Qu’on s’abstienne toujours de viande et qu’on récite régulièrement ce qui purifie. Qu’on dise toujours la vérité et qu’on demeure discipliné, sobre dans la nourriture.»
भीष्म उवाच
Bhīṣma lays out practical disciplines that support dharma: non-violence through abstaining from meat, inner and outer purity through recitation of purifying texts, unwavering truthfulness, and regulated eating as a form of self-mastery.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues advising on righteous conduct, listing concrete vows and daily practices that cultivate purity, truth, and restraint.
