इति तेषां वच: श्रुत्वा स्वयम्भूरिदमब्रवीत् । एष मे पार्श्चतो वद्लिययुष्मच्छेयो&भिधास्यति
iti teṣāṃ vacaḥ śrutvā svayambhūr idam abravīt | eṣa me pārśvato vahniḥ yuṣmac-chreyo 'bhidhāsyati ||
Bhishma dit : Ayant entendu les paroles des Pitṛs, Svayambhū (Brahmā) parla ainsi : «Ô dieux, voici près de moi Agni. C’est lui qui vous déclarera ce qui est véritablement pour votre bien».
भीष्म उवाच
True welfare (śreyas) is best learned by listening to rightful authority and competent guides; Brahmā directs the gods to Agni as a reliable speaker of what benefits them, emphasizing disciplined receptivity to wise counsel.
After hearing the Pitṛs’ statement, Brahmā responds and points to Agni standing beside him, instructing the gods that Agni will explain what is beneficial for them.
