Bhishma links the performance of śrāddha/pitṛyajña with specific nakṣatras to distinct fruits—health, fame, and freedom from grief—emphasizing that dharmic rites, done with proper timing and intent, are believed to shape one’s well-being and social-moral standing.
In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhishma continues instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma, here giving a concise rule about the benefits attributed to performing ancestral rites under particular lunar mansions (Mūla, Pūrvāṣāḍhā, Uttarāṣāḍhā).
