Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
इत्युक्त्वा तांस्ततो देवा: पुनरेव महीमिमाम्
ity uktvā tāṁs tato devāḥ punar eva mahīm imām
Après leur avoir ainsi parlé, les dieux tournèrent de nouveau leur attention vers cette terre même—y revenant pour poursuivre ce qui avait été décrété, selon l’ordre cosmique et le devoir.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores that divine action follows spoken resolve and is directed toward restoring or maintaining dharma on earth; speech (decision/command) is followed by purposeful return to worldly responsibility.
Bhīṣma narrates that after addressing certain beings (“them”), the gods proceed again toward the earth, indicating a renewed engagement with earthly affairs as the next step in the story.
