Śrāddha-Kalpa: Pitṛ-Pūjā and Tithi-Phala (श्राद्धकल्पः पितृपूजा च तिथिफलम्)
अपना | अं चतुरशीतितमो< ध्याय: भीष्मजीका अपने पिता ४ कह के हाथमें पिण्ड न देकर कुशपर देना
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | uktaṃ pitāmahenedaṃ gavāṃ dānam anuttamam | viśeṣeṇa narendrāṇām iha dharmam avekṣatām |
Yudhiṣṭhira dit : «Grand-père, tu as décrit ce don incomparable de vaches — une offrande destinée à tous les hommes, et tout particulièrement aux rois d’ici qui gardent les yeux fixés sur le dharma.»
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse frames go-dāna (the gift of cows) as an unsurpassed form of charity and highlights that rulers, more than others, should practice and uphold dharma through exemplary giving.
