Cyavana–Kuśika Dialogue on Lineage, Conflict, and Transmission
Bhishma urges the listener to abandon inner anger or regret (manyu) and to rest in the assurance of śreyas—true welfare. Ethically, it teaches emotional restraint and trust in the ripening of rightful outcomes rather than being driven by resentment.
In Anushasana Parva, Bhishma is instructing and consoling the recipient of his counsel. Here he reassures them that the moment of auspicious good has arrived and that heartfelt wishes will be fulfilled, encouraging calmness and confidence.
