Cyavana–Kuśika Dialogue on Lineage, Conflict, and Transmission

Dharma is shown through careful, faultless service and readiness to obey rightful authority; when service is sincere and complete, the test shifts from material offerings to personal humility and submission of ego.
After many kinds of garments are procured and offered, the sage Cyavana finds no deficiency in the service. He then intensifies the demand by ordering King Kuśika—along with his wife—to be yoked to a chariot and to carry him swiftly wherever he commands.
