किमनुक्रोश्य वैफल्यमुत्पादयसि मेडनघ । आनृशंस्याभियुक्तस्य भक्तस्यानन्यगस्य च

Transliteration

kim anukrośya vaiphalyam utpādayasi me dānagha | ānṛśaṁsyābhiyuktasya bhaktasyānanyagasya ca ||

Translation

Bhīṣma dit : «Ô toi sans péché, pourquoi, par une pitié mal avisée, cherches-tu à rendre mon dessein stérile ? Je suis voué à la compassion et à l’objet de ma dévotion d’une fidélité sans partage ; ne t’efforce donc pas de réduire à néant ma bonne intention.»
