Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | yan-mūlaṃ sarva-dharmāṇāṃ sva-janasya gṛhasya ca | pitṛ-devātithīnāṃ ca tan me brūhi pitāmaha ||

Yudhiṣṭhira dit : «Grand-père, je t’en prie, instruis-moi sur l’acte de donner une jeune fille en mariage—acte tenu pour la racine de tout dharma, le fondement de la parenté et de la maison, et l’appui qui permet d’honorer les ancêtres, les dieux et les hôtes.»
