Viśvāmitra-janma: Ṛcīka–Satyavatī–Gādhi and the Charu Exchange (विश्वामित्र-जन्म: ऋचीक–सत्यवती–गाधि वृत्तान्तः)
विश्वामित्रस्थ वै जन्म सोमसूर्याग्नितेजस: । भरतश्रेष्ठ! इस प्रकार मैंने तुम्हें सोम, सूर्य और अग्निके समान तेजस्वी विश्वामित्रके जन्मका सारा वृत्तान्त यथार्थरूपसे बताया है
Viśvāmitrasya vai janma somasūryāgnitejasaḥ | Bharataśreṣṭha! iti prakāreṇa mayā tubhyaṃ soma-sūrya-agnisama-tejasvinaḥ Viśvāmitrasya janmanaḥ sarvo vṛttāntaḥ yathārtharūpeṇa kathitaḥ |
Bhīṣma dit : «Ô le meilleur des Bhārata, je t’ai ainsi rapporté, en vérité et tout au long, le récit entier de la naissance de Viśvāmitra, dont l’éclat était semblable à celui de Soma (la Lune), de Sūrya (le Soleil) et d’Agni (le Feu).»
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores truthful transmission of sacred history: Bhīṣma emphasizes that he has narrated Viśvāmitra’s origin accurately, highlighting the ethical value of speaking in accordance with reality (yathārtha) when conveying dharma-related traditions.
Bhīṣma concludes a section of his discourse to Yudhiṣṭhira by summarizing that he has fully recounted the circumstances of Viśvāmitra’s birth, praising the sage’s extraordinary radiance as comparable to the Moon, Sun, and Fire.
