क्षत्रियं तूग्रकर्माणं त्वं भद्रे जनयिष्यसि । नहि ते तत्‌ कृतं साधु मातृस्नेहेन भाविनि

Transliteration

kṣatriyaṃ tūgrakarmāṇaṃ tvaṃ bhadre janayiṣyasi | nahi te tat kṛtaṃ sādhu mātṛsnehena bhāvini ||

Translation

Bhishma dit : «Ô dame de bon augure, tu enfanteras un kshatriya aux actes farouches. Par attachement à la tendresse maternelle, ce que tu as fait n’est pas digne d’éloge. Par l’échange que toi et ta mère avez accompli, ta mère portera l’excellent fils destiné à la condition de brahmane, tandis que toi tu deviendras la mère d’un guerrier dont les actions seront terribles.»
