स तुतोष च ब्रद्यार्षिस्तस्या वृत्तेन भारत । छन््दयामास चैवैनां वरेण वरवर्णिनीम्
sa tutoṣa ca brāhmarṣis tasyā vṛttena bhārata | chandayāmāsa caivaināṁ vareṇa varavarṇinīm ||
Bhīṣma dit : Ô Bhārata, le brahmarṣi fut grandement satisfait de la conduite de cette femme. Dans l’allégresse, il exprima le désir d’accorder à cette beauté incomparable une grâce selon son choix—montrant ainsi que la vertu appelle naturellement la bienveillance et les bienfaits des justes.
भीष्म उवाच
Right conduct (vṛtta) and faithful, ethical behavior within relationships generate trust and merit, leading the righteous to respond with blessings; virtue naturally attracts benevolence.
A brahmarṣi, pleased with his wife's exemplary behavior, decides to reward her by offering a boon, indicating his approval and the moral economy of virtue and reward.
