पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient
ब्राह्मणके मुखसे जो वाणी निकलती है, उसे जो शिरोधार्य करते हैं, वे सम्पूर्ण भूतोंको आत्मभावसे देखनेवाले महात्मा कभी पराभवको नहीं प्राप्त होते हैं ।।
bhīṣma uvāca | brāhmaṇake mukhase yo vāṇī nikalatī hai, use yo śirodhārya karate haiṃ, ve sampūrṇa bhūtoṃ ko ātmabhāvase dekhanevāle mahātmā kabhī parābhavako nahīṃ prāpta hote haiṃ || kṣatriyāṇāṃ pratapatāṃ tejasā ca balena ca | brāhmaṇeṣv eva śāmyanti tejāṃsi ca balāni ca ||
Bhīṣma dit : Ceux qui prennent à cœur les paroles qui sortent de la bouche d’un brāhmane—les tenant pour dignes d’être portées sur la tête—deviennent des âmes magnanimes, voyant tous les êtres avec la vision du Soi, et ils ne tombent pas dans la défaite. Car même l’ardeur des kṣatriya, leur splendeur et leur force, trouve apaisement et retenue auprès des brāhmanes ; là, leur puissance et leur vigueur enflammées sont pacifiées.
