अहिंसयित्वा ब्रह्महत्याविधानम् / Brahmahatyā incurred without physical violence
ब्राह्मणांश्वैव मन्येत गुरूंश्वाप्पभिपूजयेत् । सर्वभूतानुलोमश्न मृदुशील: प्रियंवद:
brāhmaṇāṁś caiva manyeta gurūṁś cāpy abhipūjayet | sarvabhūtānulomaś ca mṛduśīlaḥ priyaṁvadaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dit : Il faut tenir les brahmanes en vénération et honorer comme il se doit les aînés et les maîtres. Il faut vivre en harmonie avec tous les êtres, être doux dans sa conduite et prononcer des paroles agréables ; ainsi s’incarne la discipline morale louée comme un comportement juste.
भीष्म उवाच
Cultivate dharmic character by revering Brahmins and honoring teachers/elders, living in harmony with all beings, maintaining gentleness, and speaking pleasing, non-harsh words.
In Anushasana Parva, Bhishma instructs Yudhishthira on righteous conduct; this verse lists practical virtues—reverence, service, harmony, gentleness, and courteous speech—as marks of a well-disciplined person.
