The verse sets up an ethical lesson by foregrounding a moment of provoked anger involving brāhmaṇas; it implies the importance of restraint, proper conduct toward revered persons, and seeking guidance through respectful inquiry rather than acting from wrath.
Vāyu begins a past episode: while in Dvāravatī, Pradyumna—angered after being provoked by brāhmaṇas—approaches Vāyu and asks him a question, introducing the instruction that follows.
