Bhīṣma emphasizes the purifying power of sacred instruction: learning (and even hearing) the complete, properly transmitted mantra-procedure is presented as a means to remove sin and restore moral-spiritual clarity.
In the Anuśāsana Parva’s didactic setting, Bhīṣma continues advising Yudhiṣṭhira. Here he introduces a forthcoming exposition of a mantra and its full method, assuring the listener of its sin-destroying merit.
