कल्मषापहर-कीर्तनम् / Kīrtana for the Removal of Impurity
स्वागतेनैव सर्वेषां भूतानामविहिंसक: । यथार्हसत्क्रियापूर्वमर्चचन्तवतिष्ठति
svāgatenāiva sarveṣāṁ bhūtānām avihiṁsakaḥ | yathārha-satkriyā-pūrvam arcayan tu avatiṣṭhati, devi |
Mahādeva dit : «Ô Devī, celui qui ne fait violence à aucun être ; qui accueille autrui avec chaleur ; et qui demeure sans cesse occupé à les honorer avec le respect dû et une hospitalité convenable—celui-là, par des offrandes pleines de révérence et des actes de courtoisie appropriés, demeure établi dans la conduite juste.»
श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच
The verse praises ahiṁsā (non-harm) joined with svāgata and satkriyā—welcoming speech and appropriate honoring of others. Dharma is shown not only as inner restraint from violence but as active, fitting respect toward all beings.
Śrīmahēśvara addresses Devī, describing the conduct of a virtuous person: one who avoids harming creatures and continually honors others with proper hospitality and reverence. The statement functions as ethical instruction within Anuśāsana Parva’s teachings on righteous behavior.
