Śatarudrīya-prabhāva and Rudra’s Supremacy (शतरुद्रीयप्रभावः)
दहामाने वने तस्मिन् ससालसरलठद्रुमे । सचन्दनवरे रम्ये दिव्यौषधिविदीपिते
dahāmāne vane tasmin saśālasaralaṭhadrume | sacandanavare ramye divyauṣadhividīpite ||
Nārada dit : Dans cette forêt—pleine de śāla, de sarala et d’autres arbres, ornée de santal d’excellence et rendue lumineuse par des plantes médicinales divines—un incendie avait éclaté. Le bois charmant brûlait de tous côtés.
नारद उवाच
The verse frames a sudden disaster in a sacred, resource-rich forest, implicitly highlighting dharma as timely, compassionate action—protecting beings and preserving what sustains life when crisis arises.
Nārada describes a beautiful forest—full of śāla and sarala trees, fine sandalwood, and luminous medicinal herbs—now engulfed by fire and burning in all directions.
